ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਦਿ ਲਗੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥

My tongue is intuitively attracted to the taste of the Lord.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥

My mind is satisfied, meditating on the Name of the Lord. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥

Lasting peace is obtained, contemplating the Shabad, the True Word of God.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਵਿਚਾਰਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

I am forever a sacrifice to my True Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਖੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥

My eyes are content, lovingly focused on the One Lord.
ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ (ਪਰਾਏ ਰੂਪ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
ਮਨੁ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੨॥

My mind is content, having forsaken the love of duality. ||2||
ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਦੇਹ ਸਰੀਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥

The frame of my body is at peace, through the Shabad, and the Name of the Lord.
ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਮਲੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥

The fragrance of the Naam permeates my heart. ||3||
ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੁ ॥

O Nanak, one who has such great destiny written upon his forehead,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਜਾਗਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਹਜ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ॥੪॥੭॥
Line 7
through the Bani of the Guru's Word, easily and intuitively becomes free of desire. ||4||7||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਵੈਰਾਗ ਉਪਜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੭॥
