Salok, Fifth Mehl:
ਲਧਮੁ ਲਭਣਹਾਰੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਰੰਦੋ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥
Line 11
I have found the object of my search - my Beloved took pity on me.
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਖਸਮ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਲੱਭਣ-ਜੋਗ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ।
ਇਕੋ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਆ ਨ ਪਸੀਐ ॥੧॥

There is One Creator; O Nanak, I do not see any other. ||1||
(ਹੁਣ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਕ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਹੀ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ॥੧॥

Fifth Mehl:
ਪਾਪੜਿਆ ਪਛਾੜਿ ਬਾਣੁ ਸਚਾਵਾ ਸੰਨਿੑ ਕੈ ॥
Line 12
Take aim with the arrow of Truth, and shoot down sin.
ਸੱਚ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਦਾ ਤੀਰ ਤਾਣ ਕੇ ਚੰਦਰੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਸਾ ਦੇ,
ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੜਾ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਥੀਵਈ ॥੨॥
Line 12
Cherish the Words of the Guru's Mantra, O Nanak, and you shall not suffer in pain. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦਾ ॥੨॥

ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪਾਈਅਨੁ ਠਾਢਿ ਆਪਿ ॥

Waaho! Waaho! The Creator Lord Himself has brought about peace and tranquility.
ਉਸ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ 'ਧੰਨ ਧੰਨ' ਆਖ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਪ ਠੰਢ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ।
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਪਿ ॥

He is Kind to all beings and creatures; meditate forever on Him.
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੈ।
ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਮਰਥਿ ਚੁਕੇ ਬਿਲ ਬਿਲਾਪ ॥

The all-powerful Lord has shown Mercy, and my cries of suffering are ended.
ਸਮਰੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਣੇ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਏ।
ਨਠੇ ਤਾਪ ਦੁਖ ਰੋਗ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪਿ ॥

My fevers, pains and diseases are gone, by the Grace of the Perfect Guru.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਕਲੇਸ਼, ਦੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
ਕੀਤੀਅਨੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਖ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜਿ ਥਾਪਿ ॥

The Lord has established me, and protected me; He is the Cherisher of the poor.
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ) ਗ਼ਰੀਬਾਂ (ਭਾਵ, ਦਰ-ਢੱਠਿਆਂ) ਨੂੰ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਕੇ ਥਾਪਣਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਰੱਖਿਆ ਉਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਨੇ ਆਪ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ,
ਆਪੇ ਲਇਅਨੁ ਛਡਾਇ ਬੰਧਨ ਸਗਲ ਕਾਪਿ ॥
Line 15
He Himself has delivered me, breaking all my bonds.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਛੁਡਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਸਨ ਬੁਝੀ ਆਸ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਮਨ ਸੰਤੋਖਿ ਧ੍ਰਾਪਿ ॥
Line 15
My thirst is quenched, my hopes are fulfilled, and my mind is contented and satisfied.
ਤੇ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮਿਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਵਡੀ ਹੂੰ ਵਡਾ ਅਪਾਰ ਖਸਮੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਲੇਪੁ ਨ ਪੁੰਨਿ ਪਾਪਿ ॥੧੩॥
Line 16
The greatest of the great, the Infinite Lord and Master - He is not affected by virtue and vice. ||13||
(ਪਰ) ਬੇਅੰਤ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਖਸਮ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ) ਪੁੰਨ ਜਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਲ (ਜ਼ਾਤੀ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ) ਕੋਈ-ਲੱਗ-ਲਬੇੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ॥੧੩॥
